He was born December 19, 1937, in Ulysses, Kansas, to Carl Zeddick and Juanita Mildred Hoskinson Barber. On April 7, 1973, he married Ann L. Luneburg Tucker.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy. He had been employed by the state of Florida with the Department of Agriculture, worked for Pan Am World Airways, and farmed in the Lebanon area for many years. He also worked with civil service at Fort Leonard Wood.
Carl Dean Barber was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Lester Adair.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Barber; his mother, Juanita Barber Adair of Ulysses, Kansas; two sons, Carl Dean Barber II and his wife, Denise, of High Ridge and Mark Allen Barber of St. Louis; a stepson, James Ronald Tucker of St. Louis; a sister, Delores Rensch and her husband, Edward, of Canton, Oklahoma; five grandsons, William Barber and his wife, Crystal, Cameron and Derek Tucker, and Matt and Mark Myers; a granddaughter, Cheyenne Barber; two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Drake Myers; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Carl Dean Barber are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Shadel's Colonial Chapel in Lebanon with Rev. Roger Marshall officiating. A Masonic lodge will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday by Laclede Lodge No. 83 A.F. & A.M. with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Monday at Shadel's Colonial Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Gideons International or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
