Clarence Albert Miller, son of Albert Merrill (1846-1874) and Carrie E. (Rinehart)Miller (1848-1908), was born in Illinois, where his father and mother had moved after their marriage December 27, 1871, in Mason, Cass Co., MI, to join Albert's older sister, Belinda Sophia (Miller), and her husband,Ira Coe. On August 7, 1874, in Illinois, Albert died, and his wife, Carrie, immediately returned to Mason township, where Clarence's sister, Mary A.(Miller) Amsbaugh, was born one month after her father's death.

Clarence married Minnie Warner, and together they had five children, two of whom, Pauline and Clark, died in infancy: Riaha Bernice (b. August 5, 1895; m. Oscar Smith), Pauline (b. 1897), Claude Odell (b.January 18,1899; m. Pearl Elizabeth Johnston), Clark (b. 1901), and Clarence Meryll (b. 1905). According to Clarence's son, Claude, his mother died in childbirth with Meryll. Eventually Clarence moved to Elkhart, IN, and married again. Here is a US census which shows Clarence's second family:

Although Clarence's name appears in joint with his first wife, Minnie Warner, on their stone at Plum Grove Cemetery, Cass Co., MI,Clarence is actually buried at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, IN, with his second wife, Caroline (Unknown) Miller.
