C. Jack Blanton, 68, of Valdosta, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. He was born on Feb. 20, 1932 in Lowndes County to the late Clance Homer and Anabel Rewis Blanton and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mr. Blanton was a retired electrician supervisor with Owens-Illinois and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Administrative Division at NATO Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. He attended West End Presbyterian Church and was a member of the North Lake Country Club. Mr. Blanton was a member of the Kat Kickers Square Dance Club and a square dance instructor in Statenville, Twin Lakes and Madison, Fla. Survivors include one daughter, Katrina Blanton of Lake Park; two sons, Berry G. Blanton and Terry D. Blanton, both of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Nicole Smith, both of Lake Park, and Trevor D. Blanton of Statenville; one great grandson, Kayden A. Smith of Lake Park; two sisters Odell Blanton Smith and Vera Blanton Nickell, both of Valdosta; one brother, Ernie E. Blanton of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.
