Travis Dwight Esselman, 65, a lifelong resident of Waxahachie, passed away on January 26, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

Dwight was born in Waxahachie, Texas, at the Waxahachie Sanitarium, to the late Travis Weldon and Dorlis Ray Kirk Esselman Grady. He attended grade school through high school in Waxahachie then attended Texas A&M Commerce from 1973 to 1975, where he learned how to teach electrical trades, later teaching at WHS. Dwight married Ann Larkin on November 21, 1970. He was an electrician all of his life, and worked with Esselman Electric, then E & H Electric, and then on to his own business, Esselman Lamp Repair, then for Maverick Electric Supply, and the Home Depot Electrical Dept. when they opened. He got sick in 1995 and was diagnosed, after seeing many doctors, with Dementia and Pick's Disease, better known as Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia in August of 2011. Dwight was an avid deer hunter who also enjoyed coin collecting, going to garage sales and drinking beer with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; and a brother-in-law, Lee Winkelmann.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Larkin Esselman, of Waxahachie; daughters, Theresa Burkhalter and husband, Chris, of Waxahachie, Carrie Maldonado and fiancé, Barney Castillo, of Waxahachie, and Phoebe Wright and husband, Nathan, of Emory; sister, Carolyn Winkelmann, of Waco; grandchildren, Sam and Stephen Burkhalter, Taylor and Javier Aguayo, Kelsie and Juan - grandchildren, Jayden Aguayo and Moses Hernandez;and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends,and extended family.
