BAXLEY -- A.W. (Red) Coleman, 82, died Feb. 25 at Appling Convalescent Center.
A native of De Kalb County, Ala., he had lived in Appling County for most of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He graduated from Berry College and was listed in who's who in American College and Universities. He retired from Georgia Baptist Children's Home and was area administrator for 32 years. He was a past president of National Child Care Association and was a Mason.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Clara Coleman of Baxley; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jane Coleman and Steve and Bonnie Coleman, all of Baxley; a sister, Eunice Ridgeway of Fyffe, Ala.; a brother, Herman Coleman of Rainsville, Ala.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Swain Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, burial in Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
