Leona had to leave school at an early age to help raise her siblings. Despite her many hardships and challenges, she enjoyed a long and productive live. While living in the Marshall area, she had been employed by the Marshall Public Schools. She had worked at the Hughes and Sherman Schools in the lunchroom. Leona had also worked for the Win Schuler's Restaurant, preparing salads and desserts as well as meal preparation at Oaklawn Hospital. Her last place of employment was at the Sunshine Brite Laundromat in Battle Creek. Leona had worked for 15 years and devoted the rest of her life to being a homemaker and mother.
Leona enjoyed bowling and had bowled in many area bowling leagues. She was very talented and had won many high scores and high series trophies. Only 5 years ago at the age of 87, she rolled a 200 game. In her youth, she enjoyed traveling up north to go camping and fishing. A favorite pastime of Leona was taking walks that often ended at the Ketchum Park, where she enjoyed watching the children playing and having fun. She is remembered by her family as an excellent cook and wonderful baker.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Dan) Wilson of Mesick, MI and Melissa (Daryl) Sims of Lexington, IL; sons, Ralph (Kathy) Miller Jr., of Marshall, Kenneth (Debra) Miller of Ceresco, Gerald (Cheryl) Miller of Coldwater and Michael (Mary) Miller of Marshall; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great grandchildren; sister, Idella Britton of Mattawan.
