Arthur was a graduate of Monmouth College, circa 1901. Arthur's WWI draft registration listed him as a newspaper reporter for the Chicago Herald & Examiner. His "next of kin" was listed as Maxine Brown, both living at 4257 Grand Avenue, Chicago. His death certificate still listed him as a newspaper reporter, but his residence was given as Monmouth. No wife was listed. He reportedly died in Limestone township of Peoria county. Arthur is buried next to Rev. Nathan Harvey Brown, presumably a close cousin of his father, Rev. John Harvey Brown, at Monmouth cemetery.
