John Lincoln Booth, 76, of Kennewick, passed away peacefully with his wife and children at his side on Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Seattle. John was born August 11, 1936 in Tucumcari, NM, to George Sherman and Rosalie Marie (Smith) Booth.

In 1954, John's life changed forever when he met Betty Claire Whitis on a blind date. They were married in Sunnyside on July 22, 1955. He adored her always, and she him. Their first child, John, was born in 1956, followed by Kathryn in 1960 and Peggy in 1962.

John joined the US Navy in 1954 and served as a pipefitter. After his time in the Navy, he moved back to his hometown of Grandview and partnered with his brother, George, to form Booth Brothers Construction.

In 1990, John and Betty moved to Kennewick. John was a talented woodworker and cabinet maker and had just completed a hand- crafted crib for his yet to be born great granddaughter.

He was a life member of the Grandview Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Washington.

John and Betty traveled extensively with their family including memorable trips to West Virginia, Europe and South America. He worked every day of his life which sometimes included pleasurable days spent gardening.

John positively affected everyone that he knew. He was quiet, dignified and honorable. We are devastated by his unexpected passing.

John is survived by his wife, Betty; son John (Mischelle) Booth of Sunnyside; daughter, Kathy (Lonnie) Blasdel of Kennewick; daughter, Peggy (Tim) Fisher of Pasco; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; Chris (Heather) Booth; Jordan (Michael) Vannoy and baby girl due on February 3rd; Derek (Norma) Booth and their children Vivica, Dominique and Ty, and baby due in July; Spencer Blasdel, Ashlyn Booth-Stubbs; Shelby Booth-Stubbs, Whitney (JR) Samson and Tyler Fisher. He is also survived by his brother George of West Richland, brother Charles of Auburn, sisters-in laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grandview Masonic Lodge or to support the fight against breast cancer at ArmyofWomen.org.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February, 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Community Center, 812 Wallace Way in Grandview, WA. Those wishing to sign John's online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com .
