Daughter of the late Curtis and Ivy East, she was the widow of William Howard Gainey (married on October 30, 1941). She was a graduate of Martinsville High School (1940). She was a member of Garfield Park Church of God in Indianapolis for more than 60 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Howard Gainey; three brothers, Lloyd East, Clifford East and Edgar East; and by three sisters, Mable (Fay) Deckard, Beulah Baugh and Norma Peyton. She was survived by children, Karen Sue Roberts (Terry), Monte Keith Gainey and Tamara Jill Gainey (Gus); three grandchildren, Terri Lynn Myers (Shane), Vicki Sue Caudill and William Taylor Gainey; four great grandchildren, Stacia Lynn Myers, Ty Alan Myers, Zachary Allen Caudill and Dylan Jacob Caudill; and an extended family of relatives. Her funeral was held on January 26, 2013.
