Ogden - Richard "Dick" passed away peacefully on January 24, 2013. He was born June 12, 1921 to Jean Elizabeth Ellison and William Riley Skeen, the fifth of six children.

Dick was raised in Ogden, and attended Ogden High School as the first graduating class of the new school. He attended Weber College as a two year school. After his 2 ½ year mission to the Spanish-American Mission he spent two years in the infantry during World War II. He then attended the University of Utah and graduated with a degree in Accounting.

Dick married Margaret Badger in 1946. They had three children, Todd (Sandy), Karen (Scott) Russell and Susan (Lynn) Fortie; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Kimberlee, Jed, Jordan, Clayton, Morgan, Halsey, Whitney and Colter; also 9 great-grandchildren.

Dick's mother died when he was about 9 years old, and his father died when he was 18 years old. He lived with his sister, Ruth, until he got married. They took him and his brother in as members of their family and it was his two sisters who helped him financially so he could go on his mission.

Dick served on the committee for his High School Reunion as treasurer for several years. He enjoyed keeping touch with friends thru the years.

Dick worked at Farmer's Grain Co-op before moving to Hill Air Force Base as an accountant. After his retirement he volunteered at the HAFB Museum as the treasurer for the foundation for several years, retiring in 2010.

Dick served as a missionary in Ogden after his regular mission. He served as a clerk for the college stake and later he served as Bishop of the 21st Ward. He enjoyed each of his callings.

Dick enjoyed going to his Ogden Canyon summer cabin and his association with neighbors and family there.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Merrill and Paul; his sisters, Ruth Bott and Kathryn Hess; and a nephew and niece, Paul and Barbara Skeen and many close relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his three children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and a brother, Ellison Skeen.

Special thanks to the nurses and aides at Lotus Park Assisted Living for their kind and loving care.
