After excelling as a student in her younger years, Alma had a long and successful career as a banker for US Bank. She loved her independence and maintained her own household until she moved to the Baptist Home in 2006. Besides Bismarck, in the 1950s and '60s Alma lived and worked in Salem and Portland, Oregon, and Phoenix, Arizona.
Alma was a loving aunt to 7 nieces and nephews, great-aunt to 12, and great-great-aunt to 8. Even though spread out across the country, they maintained a caring relationship with Alma. They loved playing cards with her and her wry smile when she won, which was often. Her dry sense of humor was endearing. She was very good with words and puzzles.
Besides her family, Alma loved animals, especially birds and her dogs, Butch and Rascal. She spent much of her free time sewing and knitting clothes for herself and extended family, and made incredible, dainty Barbie doll clothes. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck, and generously supported a variety of helping and educational organizations.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Augusta and Henry Buldhaupt of Beach, North Dakota, and siblings Frieda, Edwin, and Fred Buldhaupt of Beach and Elsie Simila of Salem, Oregon.
We are comforted that Alma is at peace in her heavenly home.
