James Vance Evarts
BIG TIMBER, MT. ------ James Vance Evarts, 98, who ranched at Bighorn until 1970, died Saturday in Pioneer Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born in Bellville, Ohio, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Evarts.
He worked his way to Colorado.
In 1917 he married Elsie Russell in Billings, MT.
She died in 1956.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. R.W. (Erma) Ferguson of Big Timber, MT., and Mrs. Ralph (Gertie) Grooms of Billings; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Custer Congregational Church.
Burial will be in the Custer Cemetery, Custer, MT.
Lowry Funeral Home is in charge.
