She was born March 1, 1920, in Millmont, a daughter of the late Milton and Mamie (Blyler) Kaler. On March 4, 1936, she married Edward L. Johnson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1993.
Mary grew up in Millmont and attended the Lewis Township High School.
She was employed as an aide at Union County Day Care, Mifflinburg for 20 years. Earlier in life, Mary farmed with her family, was employed at Huntington Silk Mill, Mifflinburg, worked in the kitchen at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, and was an aide at the United Methodist Homes, Lewisburg.
Mary was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, John L. and Gloria Johnson, of Mifflinburg, Alanson E. and Bonnie Johnson, of Lewisburg, and Jerry D. and Nicole Johnson, of Herndon; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elnora M. Mellott; four brothers, Fred, Oliver, Boyd, and John Kaler; and two sisters, Amelia Ely and Pearl Kaler.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Martin Coffey officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
