BOONEVILLE – Shirley Dean Johnson, 65, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following an extended illness. She was born April 22, 1947, in Lee County to Earl and Moline Wimbs Buskirk. She was a member of Barnes Crossing Baptist Church. She worked as an insurance agent for several companies over a period of 25 years. Her favorite hobby was collecting angels. She also enjoyed cooking, flowers, gospel music, singing and spending time with her family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Rakestraw and Bro. Dale Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery. Booneville funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Joe R. Johnson; a daughter, Sonia Wooldridge (Michael) of New Albany; her mother, Moline Buskirk of Saltillo; two sisters, Betty Carter and Iris Richey (Phil), all of Saltillo; two grandchildren, Kira and Tanner Swanson of Blue Springs; three stepchildren, Lisa Wilson of Oxford, Clay Johnson (Melanie) of Booneville, and Brent Johnson (girlfriend, Rosa) of Oxford; four step grandchildren, Abby Grace Johnson of Oxford, Katelyn Johnson of Booneville, Josh Maldonado and Casey Presley, both of Booneville; a very special nephew, Brad Carter of Saltillo; a very special first cousin, Joey Gildridge of Tupelo, who donated a kidney to Shirley six years ago; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother-in-law, James S. Carter.

Pallbearers are Gerald Wayne Johnson, Johnny Thorten, Phil Richey, Zachary Miller, Tyler Miller, Logan Miller, Gary Johnson and Michael Wooldridge.
