The death of John C Dowlin, one of the well known residents of Carmichaels, occurred at his home at 7 o'clock Friday morning, October 28, 1910. He was aged 66 years and his death was due to a complication of diseases. Mr. Dowlin was a director of the Carmichaels National Bank, a director of the Carmichaels Fair Association and was interested in other lines of business. He had been seriously ill only for the past two weeks. Mr. Dowlin was a son of the late Lewis and Emma Rinehart Dowlin. In 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Houston, who survives. One daughter, Miss Lena, at home, also survives. Mr. Dowlin was a member and a trustee of the Carmichaels Presbyterian church. His early life was spent on a farm, but of late years, he had been retired. He is survived by four brothers, J S of Chicago; C R and J G of Iowa; and W P of Missouri and four sisters, Mrs. Mundell of Washington, Mrs. Bowlby of Greensboro, and Mrs. Everly and Mrs. South of Dunkard. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, services being conducted in the Presbyterian church by the Rev Mr McPhail. Interment in the Laurel cemetery.
