Mrs. Laura Virginia Lewis, 72,
wife of J. hooker Lewis, Thurmont Orchardist, died at her home in Thurmont Friday night at 10 o'clock after a lingering illness, age 72 years.

She was a daughter of the late Adam and Isabella Kelbaugh and was well known in the community. She was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

In addition to her husband she is survived by eight daughters and sons, Mrs. Martin Draper, Garfield; Mrs. Dora Pryor, Mrs. Carrie Clabaugh, Mrs. Sadie Long, Edgar Lewis, Lester Lewis, all of Thurmont; Charles Lewis, Baltimore and Guy Lewis, Dickerson. A brother John Kelbaugh near Thurmont and 56 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survived.

The funeral of Mrs. J. Hooker Lewis took place Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Thurmont M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. W. E. Nelson, pastor.

Services were very largely attended and flora tributes were many and beautiful. Pallbearers, grandsons of the deceased, were Nathan and Donald Lewis, Clifford Claybaugh, Samuel Pryor Jr., Stanley Draper and Ray Long.


Interment in the Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. Willhide and Creager, Funeral Directors.
