Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Wayne County to Lenora Gammon and Jeremiah Allen, he married Effie Allen. She survives.
Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Dawn (and Leonard) Fosco of Bella Vista, Ark.; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers and one granddaughter.
He was employed by Federal Cartridge Co. as a sales representative in the Midwest before retiring.
He was a member for more than 50 years of Illinois Masonic Lodge 263; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and Mohammed Shrine Temple in Peoria.
He was a lifetime member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, National Rifle Association, Peoria Isaac Walton League and Elks Lodge 20.
He won the 1991 Seniors Handicap Trap Championship at Silver Dollar Trap Club in Tarpon Springs, Fla. He had been a member of the AllAmerican Skeet Shooting Team and was inducted into the Trap Shooting Hall of Fame.
Private interment was in Springdale Mausoleum. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
