Faye Jeanette Jarret Childers, 77, of Rt. 1, Newton, died unexpectedly Wednesday at her residence.
Born Sept. 18, 1911 in Catawba County, she was a daughter of Oliver Jay and Ada Leatherman Jarrett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Childers; two brothers, Homer Jarrett and J.D. Jarrett; a sister, Jettie Lynch.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Ellis of Hildebran, Marilyn Childers and Patricia Hasall of Newton; six sons, T. Gray Childers, Randall Childers and Robin Childers of Newton, Dennis Childers and Clinton Childers of Maiden and Joe Childers of Anderson, S.C.; three sisters, Bonnie Punch of Hickory, Clarice Hood of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Lona Phillips of Holly Hill, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. John Herold at 3 p.m. Friday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at Catawba Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
