John F. Amos. 90, of Bath died Friday, April 8, 2011 at his residence.He was the husband of Betsy Ross (Morrell) Amos. They were married 63 years on April 3. Born in Ellangowen, Schuykill County PA on April 27, 1920, he was a son of the late Elmer George and Olive Blanche (Short) Amos. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1982 where he worked as an electrician.Ho served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Tank Gunner. John served under General Patton. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds suffered during the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors: Wife; daughter, Ruth, wife of James Zapp, of Whitehall; sons, John W., and wife Deborah, of St. Louis, MO, Russell, and wife Lois, of Hereford, and James R., and wife Nidia of Walnutport; sisters, Mabel Clemens, Jane Perry, and Florence Inama; 13 grandchilren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 at Glace Bible Fellowship Church, 100 E. Beil Ave., Nazareth, PA 18064, Pastor J. Fischer Jr. officiating.Call Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.E. PA Veterans Center, 1 Veterans Dr., Spring City, PA 19475.
