Services held for Harry Gagon
Harry C. Gagon, 48, long time Mojave resident, was found dead at his home at 16132 L Street Saturday afternoon August 24th. His step-daughter Sharon Pridgen and Mrs. Frankie Maxwell found the body and immediately notified the local sheriff's' office.
Deputy Brian White responded to the call, and notified the fire department who sent a crew with resuscitation unit. Dr. Watts was also called and pronounced the man dead, estimating he had expired eight to ten hours previous.
The body was removed. to Stickel Mortuary for arrangements.
Mr. Gagon was born in Vernal, Utah April 3, 1915 and came to Kern County about 20 years ago. For many years he operated the French Café in Lancaster but returned to Mojave after disposing of his interests there. .
He was a member of Mojave Elks Lodge No. 2059, serving as chaplain. Originally Mr. Gagon was a member of the Lancaster Elks Lodge.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug 28 at 10 a.m. in Mojave Church of Latter Day Saints with Mojave Elks Lodge assisting President Jim Evans and Mr. Victor Smyth. Interment was in the Mojave Cemetery with Stickel Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his widow Bennie son Phillip, a daughter Alice and step-daughter Sharon Pridgen, all of Mojave; four brothers and three sisters, all Of whom reside outside of California.
An inquest into the cause of death was ordered at BakersfieId, but no report has been received as yet.
