Lars Phillips, aged 90 years, passed away at his home near Argyle on Wednesday, Feb 8, 1928, death being hastened by a stroke which occurred a few days previous to his demise.
The deceased was born in Hadeland, Norway Oct. 10, 1837. He was united in marriage to Olena Olson on Dec 12, 1867 in Hadeland. Five children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy.
In 1876 Mr. Phillips, with his family, immigrated to the United States, settling near Argyle, Wis., where they have lived ever since on their homestead.
Funeral services were conducted at the home and the Yellowstone Lutheran church Saturday, Rev. S. C. Benson officiating.
Surviving are the widow, one son, Ole, Argyle; two daughters, Mrs. Riley Watkins, Argyle; Mrs. Ole N. Olson, Blanchardville.
Lars is also survived by a brother in South Dakota: Peder Ludwig Phillips.
