Mrs. A. R. Gilman died at the home of her mother, Mrs. George Whalen, November 12, 1918, of pneumonia following an attack of influenza. Mrs. Gilman was born in Emmons county January 11, 1890, making her 28 years, 10 months and 3 days old at the time of her death.

She grew to womanhood here, and in 1909 went west with her brother, Thomas, where she was united in marriage to Albert Gilman in 1913 and to this union was born two sons – Roy aged 4 and Cecil aged 1.

In June, 1917, they moved to Casper, Wyoming, where they made their home until September 4th, when they moved to Strasburg and made their home with Mrs. Gilman’s mother, Mrs. Whalen.

She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, two children, a mother, four sisters – Mrs. F. L. Logue and Mrs. L. E. Logue of Pollock, S. D.; and Lena and Grace Whalen of Strasburg – and five brothers – Charley who is in France; Andrew who is in Camp Custer, Mich.; Thomas, Edward and William Whalen of Strasburg – besides many friends.

She was a kind and loving daughter, a devoted wife and mother.

The remains were buried in the Catholic cemetery three and a half miles southwest of the Whalen farm, on Thursday, November 14th.
