Robert A. Schultz, 82, of Las Vegas, passed away March 23, 2008, Easter Sunday. He was born July 25, 1925, in Kenmare, N.D. Robert was bundled in a blue blanket as an infant and left on the steps of a convent with a note asking someone to please take care of my baby. Andrew and Lydia Schultz adopted Robert and raised him in Mirando City, Texas.

Knowing his beginnings, Robert grew to prove his worth; developing a strong fortitude and work ethic. In 1940, he left Texas and joined the U.S. Army at age 15. He retired from the Army in 1962 after having served in the South Pacific during WWII and the Korean War. He moved his family to Las Vegas in 1962 and worked for the State of Nevada for 26 years, retiring as chief administrative law judge for the Employment Security Department of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 36 years, Norma in 1984; and is survived by his second wife, of 18 years, Carlene. He is also survived by three children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

There will be no funeral at his request. He will receive full military honors at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City Monday, March 31, at noon. Reception following from 1-3 p.m. at Matteo's Restaurant in the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St.
