William Deppe Sr. was born in Einbeck, Hanover, Germany, Oct. 12th, 1841 and died at Shullsburg, Wis. June 4th, 1921 at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 22 days.
He came to this country with his mother in 1846, his father Frank Deppe having preceded the family to this country the year before. The family is settled on what is now known as the old Deppe farm. There Mr. Deppe spent his life from the time he left Germany.
On March 21st, 1877 he married Jennie Elliot of Shullsburg. To them were born four children one of whom died in infancy. The survivors besides Mrs. Deppe, are his daughters, Mrs. Minnie Marcus of Shullsburg, Mrs. Margaret Collins of Detroit, his son, Wm. Frank Deppe of Shullsburg and six grandchildren; Esther Marcus Ricks, Homer, Jean and Joseph Marcus, Beatrice Collins, Frank Deppe.
The funeral took place last Monday afternoon from the Congregational church, Rev. Evert officiating. The Masons and Eastern Star ladies attended in a body and had charge of the services at the grave.
