CHICOPEE - Roger H. Ritchott, 80, died peacefully at home on June 13, 2006 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Chicopee on September 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Viola (Hebert) Ritchott. Roger attended Assumption School and was a graduate of Chicopee High School. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy and served stateside during World War II as a pharmacists mate until his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1949, until his retirement in 1989 he owned and operated Ritchott Insurance Agency located in Chicopee Center. Roger continued his education after retirement, graduating from Western New England College in 1996, achieving his dream of earning his bachelor's degree in liberal arts. He was predeceased by his first wife Jose Willekens, who died in 1981. He leaves his loving wife, of nineteen years, Evangeline Roy, his son, Guy Ritchott and wife Cathy (Flowers) of Vermont, his daughter, Renee Wiater and husband Steve of Southwick, granddaughters Lia and Genevieve Ritchott and Stephanie and Melanie Wiater, his sister Paula Ritchott of South Miami, Florida, and his brother, Norman Ritchott, former City Auditor of Chicopee. He also leaves his stepchildren and their spouses; Helen and Yves Demers, Patricia Roy, Gail and Greg Cunliffe, Carl and Leanor Roy, Kimberly and Bob Dion and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
