HOWARD — Donald W. "Don" Marchant, 51, of Howard died on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born on April 21, 1959, in West Plains, Mo., to Wade and Nadine (Shipley) Marchant.

Don served in the Army National Guard for 23 years earning the rank of master sergeant.

He most recently worked for Aerospace Industries in Fredonia as a machinist.

He married Elizabeth Woodworth on Aug. 28, 2003, in Miami, Okla. She survives of Howard.

As a young man, Don was baptized into the Baptist Church. He also was an ordained minister. He was a member of Hope Lodge No. 155 AF&AM in Howard, Midian Shrine in Wichita and Elk's Lodge No. 989 in Cherryvale. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing in a pool league and $1 nights at the pub. Most of all, Don enjoyed being Pa Pa to his grandchildren.

Other survivors include his parents, Wade and Nadine Marchant of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Erica, Heather and Nicole; a stepson, Tyler Barnhart of Erie; a stepdaughter, Nicole Marchant and her husband, Josh, of Cherryvale; a sister, Cheryl Abney of Springfield, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Midian Shrine Children's Hospital and may be left at the funeral home.
