ROCKFORD - John O. Ahlquist, 82, of Rockford died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Rockford, son of Arvid and Josephine (Anderson) Ahlquist. Married Nina E. Wilson on May 25, 1955, in Rockford she died on Feb. 24, 1989. He, his father and brother owned and operated Rockford Specialty Company for 58 years. Former member of Grace Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, Gerald (Carol) Ahlquist of Machesney Park, Thomas (Lana) Ahlquist of Loves Park and John (Grace) Ahlquist of Roscoe grandchildren, Mary, Marcey, Phillip, Tami, Traci, Terese, Jeff and Jody 16 great-grandchildren and brother, Roy (Nancy) Ahlquist of Rockford. Predeceased by parents and sister, Dorothy Ahlquist.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, in Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels, Ltd., East Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with the Rev. Dr. William Richard Kerr Sr. officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the East Chapel.
