Elbert Lee Reed was born August 22, 1932 in Skidmore, MO. He was the first child of Ernie Earl and Mary Gladys Wellington Reed. He graduated from Skidmore High School in 1950 and entered the Army during the Korean conflict in 1952. On May 9, 1953, he married Peggy Ann Lawson. They lived in California for two years, where their first daughter, Margaret was born. After his discharge the returned to Maryville and built a new home. They lived there for 17 years before returning to their hometown of Skidmore. Their children are: Margaret Ann Blessington (who preceded him in death,) Stephen Michael and Deanna Lee. Elbert was employed at Uniroyal and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Skidmore.
