"AN OLD MERCHANT DECEASED
Abraham R. Perkins, senior member of the firm of Perkikns & Co., No. 214 Chestnut street died suddenly on Monday night, in the seventy third year of his age. Mr. Perkins entered the dry goods trade in 1826, commencing business with his brother, Thomas J. Perkins, at the southeast corner of Ninth and Market streets, and remained in the trade up to the time of his death, having in the long interim established a name for strict integrity and fair dealings. Deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and very recently attended a meeting of its Board of Trustees. He was widely trusted and esteemed."
