Leonard Wilbur Bowman, 84 of Bluemont, Virginia, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 in the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Bowman was born May 3, 1925 in Oakton, Virginia, the son of Wilbur Ira and Leslie May Bowman.
He worked for Fairfax County School Systems where he was a Building Supervisor.
He served in the Air Corps of the U. S. Army.
He was a member of Mt. Baptist Church and Oakton Church of the Brethren.
He married Louise D. Bowman on August 4, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas.
Surviving with his wife are 2 sons, Nelson L. Bowman and his wife, Janice of Frederick, MD, and Daniel J. Bowman of Front Royal, VA; 2 daughters, Janice Bowman-Deyarmin and her husband, Timothy of Bentonville, VA and Gale Bowman-Harlow and her husband, Macolm of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Aaron Bowman and Joy Bowman of Fredericksburg, VA and Emily and Barnie Bowman of Front Royal, VA; great-grandchildren, calvin and Kevin Bowman of Frederick, MD; step grandchildren, Tiffany Harlow and her children, Madelynn and Harrison Davis, Daryn Harlow and his wife, Cheryl, and their children, Fox, Penelope, and Scout, Laird Harlow and his wife, Keli, and Mary Bowman Deyarmin.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 P. M. Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Mountain Baptist Church, Bluemont, VA with Rev. Dennis Griffin officiating.
Burial will be in the National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA.
Pallbearers will be Emily Bowman, Barnie Bowman, and Mary Deyarmin.
Honorary pallbearer will be Calvin Bowman and Kevin Bowman.
