Quincy, Ill.,Sept. 24.--Elva Dorsett [Ellsworth Dorsett], fifty, had his head blown off and Harrison Drake may not live as the result of the gas tank of the lighting plants in the Methodist church of Huntsville, Mo. [sic]., 40 miles nortwest of here [northeast] exploding Sunday afternoon. Dorsett was helping Drake, who was the janitor, prepare the lights for the evening services.

Ellsworth Dorsett of Huntsville Meets a Tragic Death on Sunday afternoon

Ellsworth Dorsett, known as Kern Dorsett of Huntsville, [Schuyler County, Illinois] met a most tragic death Sunday evening when an acetylene gas tank blew up and Harrison Drake was frightfully injured...Ellsworth was born between Augusta and Huntsville and has always resided in this locality. He was about 56 years old and leaves a wife and five children, three daughters, Mrs. Wm. Becraft, of Huntsville, Misses Edith and Ethel, twin sisters, and two sons, Russell and Albert Dorsett, all living at Huntsville or in that vicinity except Russell who lives at Moline.THe funeral service were held Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. H. R. Kasiske of CLayton and the remains were laid at rest in the Huntsville cemetery.Mr. Dorsett was the son of Ezra B. and Matilda "Sprigg" Dorsett.
He was married to Lydia Mae Allen and to this union was born; Gertrude, Russell R., Albert T., twins Edith F. and Ethel M. Dorsett.
