MARY R. THOMAS

Mary R. Thomas, 70, died Friday, December 15, 1989 at her home of heart failure.

She was born September 1, 1919 in Grouse Creek, a daughter of Hugh and Louisa Kimber Roberts. She married William S. (Bill) Thomas, May 3, 1937 in Brigham City, Utah. He died April 1, 1986.

She was reared and educated in Grouse Creek and graduated from school there. She moved to Tremonton in 1954 and moved back to Grouse Creek in 1962.
She and her husband owned and operated the Cross X Ranch in Grouse Creek. They also operated the Crossroads Cafe in Tremonton from 1954- 1968. They bought the Cross X Cafe in 1968 and have operated it ever since.

She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers.

She was a member of the LDS Church and had taught Sunday School.

Survivors include one son and one daughter, Duane Thomas, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Mary Lou Nelson, Spokane, Washington; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and three sisters, Ray Roberts, Montello, Nev.; Byron Roberts, Sparks, Nev.; Vern Roberts, Fallon, Nev.; Rex Roberts, Eureka, Nev.; Mrs. Dale (Marie) Whitaker, Fall River Mills, California; Mrs. Miles (Joy) Tracy, Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Colleen Teeter, Roy.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1989 in the Grouse Creek Ward Chapel with Bishop Larry Henson officiating.

Interment will be in the Grouse Creek Cemetery.
