Mr. Gray was the son of the late William Riley and Oma Locker Gray. He was a descendant of Phillip Koonce, Revolutionary veteran, and Rev. Jacob Gray, a minister of Liberty Baptist Church of Chrisy, and Prospect Church of Christ, and Civil War veteran. He was a farmer and eldger of the Liberty Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held December 26, 2000, at Higgins Funeral Home with Brother Bert Watkins and Brother Tony Demonbreun officiating. Tommy Sisk led congregational singing. Burial was in the Riverview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Eddins Gray; one daughter, Gloria Turney of Decatur, Alabama; one sister, Lizzie Mae Smiley of the Liberty community; three brothers, James Riley Gray, Robert (Bob) Allen Gray, Leland Winston Gray; one granddaughter, Lindsay Turney of Decatur, Alabama.
