Dunston R. Blackwell married (1) Frances Henrietta Strange on March 22, 1859 in Hart County, Georgia. They had two children: James Dunston and Frances H. Blackwell. Frances (Strange) Blackwell died from childbirth complications two months after her daughter was born. She is buried in Hart County, Georgia.

Dunston Blackwell married (2) Martha Allen in 1879 in Elbert County, Georgia. Martha died within a year after their marriage.

3) Dunston married (3) Addie Lovingood in December, 1881 in Elbert County, Georgia. They had four known children. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia and both died and were buried in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. He died in 1905 (FAG Memorial # 103735402) and she died in 1913.
