Arthur Cyr, son of Frank and Vesta Cyr, was born Feb 11, 1884, and died unexpectedly at his home at Clifton, Kan. Dec. 27, 1965 at the age of 81 years, 10 months, 16 days. He taught school in Cloud county schools several years. On June 8, 1909, he was married to Katherine Urban and to them three daughters were born: Mrs. Eva Kling, Lena, now Mrs. Charles Trumble, and Gertrude, Mrs Virgil Yeager who died in January 1936. Mrs. Yeager's 19-months old daughter, Verla Marie, now Mrs. Don Murk, was taken into his home at her mother's death and raised as his own. In 1915, he moved his family to Greenleaf, where he was a mail carrier 35 years. He built the Cyr pavilion at Greenleaf and operated it for many years. In 1951, he retired and he and his wife moved to a home near Clifton a short distance from where he was born. He converted his large farm into a recreation spot where many families came to swim, fish, and picnic. He is survived by his wife, three daughters: Mrs. Eva Kling, Mrs. Charles Trumble, and Mrs Don Murk; three grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, and other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Turner funeral home in Clifton, Kan. Dec 30 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Father Mattas of St. Joseph Kan., officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery at Greenleaf. Pallbearers were Porter Brantfort, Bill Brantfort, Gerald Allen, Adamore LeClair, Don Germann, and Joe Frigon.
