Mr. Hennsley was a U.S. Army veteran. A manufacturing engineer at Cummins Engine Company for 35 years, he retired in 1985. He also was a wood craftsman and a building contractor.
He was a member of Garden City Church of Christ, St. John's Masonic Lodge No. 20, the Murat Shrine, the American Legion and Columbus Moose Lodge. An outdoorsman, Mr. Hennsley enjoyed fishing and camping and he loved to spend time with the grandkids.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Scipio Cemetery with full military rites.

Born in Brown County October 5, 1931, Mr. Hennsley was the son of Elza and Ethel Hennsley Lucas. He married Margaret B. Burton Cox July 25, 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; children, Iris Lynn (Larry) Shutters of Columbus, Randy Riddle and his companion Diane Riggs of Columbus, Allen Cox and his companion Chris Shoultz of Elizabethtown and Michelle (Scott) Gordon of Columbus; grandchildren, Scott (Aleisha) Hennsley of Columbus, Kelly Caldwell of Columbus, Matt (Brenda) Shutters of Columbus, Jennifer (Jay) LaBouve of Warner Robins, GA, Christopher (Christy) Hennsley of Lubbock, TX, Andy Riddle of Columbus, Richie (Tamara) Riddle of Columbus and Sophie Grace Gordon of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Hensley, Dakota Kerns, Lindsey Spencer, Jordan, Jessica and C.J. LaBouve, Tyler Hennsley and Austin Hensley, Jessica and Carrie Caldwell and Trenton and Trevor Shutters; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Nellie Sexton of Jennings County and Ula Jean Dugan of Salem; brothers-in-law, Frank Burton of Madison and Paul Burton of Elizabethtown; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Hennsley of Seymour.
