Dr. Lacy Gordon Blair departed this life on Sunday, January 13, 2013. He was a long time resident of Manhattan, New York. He was born on October 10, 1937 in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he attended public schools. He was the only son of the late Lacy and Sarah Williams Blair. In addition to both parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Claudette W. Blair. Dr. Blair attended Meharry Medical College School of Medicine and Hampton (Institute) University. He also served in the United States Army with the Medical Service Corps. He practiced Internal Medicine for over 40 years in the Bronx and Brooklyn, New York where he lovingly cared for the poor and destitute. Dr. Blair is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Blair McDaniel of Lynchburg, VA and Ms. Paula W. Blair of Woodbridge, VA; one niece and nephew-in-law, Colonel (Ret.) and Mrs. Anthony D. and Corean McDaniel Reyes; great- nephew Anthony and great-niece Blair Reyes of Hampton, VA; cousins, Mrs. Thomasine Allen Martin and Dexter Martin of Richmond, VA, The Blairs of Lynchburg and Amherst, Virginia respectively and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the Centra Hospice staff, Lynchburg Health & Rehab staff, Dr. Dwight Oldham and Dr. Corey Passman for their wonderful and compassionate care. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:00 PM at 2308 Rivermont Ave. with the family. A reception will follow at the residence, all in keeping with the wishes and request of the deceased. The family is receiving friends at the same location. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Meharry Medical College-School of Medicine, 1005 D B Todd Jr. Blvd, Nashville, TN 37208 or The Sarah Williams Blair Scholarship Fund, Office of Development-Hampton University, Hampton, VA 23668.
