Vida Hurst Winters

NORTH OGDEN – Vida Valria Hurst Winters, 88 years, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 with her loving family by her side.

She was born February 27, 1921 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Charles Clement and Laura Elizabeth Mace Hurst.

She married Sterling Alfred Winters on October 5, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. He died December 3, 1980.

Vida was a member of the LDS church, North Ogden 2nd Ward and had served as Secretary of the primary and as a Visiting Teacher.

She worked as a checker at American Food stores, later at Mayfair Market, and then at Smith's, retiring after 29 years.

Vida loved to play pinochle, go trout and salmon fishing, and enjoyed spending time with her many friends at the North View Senior Citizens' Center.

Surviving her are one daughter, Sherry Maw of North Ogden, one step-daughter, Carma Hayes of Newberg, Oregon; 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Jerry Clyff Allen; her step-son, George Winters; and her step-daughter, Ruth Winters Ewing.

Interment will be held at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
