Adeline M. Hove, 85, of Red Wing, died Sunday, Jan. 13, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Vasa Township on April 7, 1927, to August and Ruby (Mandelkow) Strusz. She grew up on the home farm and attended school in Vasa, Minn. She married Henry M. Hove of Leon Township, Dec. 26, 1944. They moved to Kentucky while Henry was in the military, then to Antioch, Calif. After WWII, they farmed in Cannon Falls and Dennison until 1956 when the family moved to Red Wing.

She was a member of the women's VFW Auxiliary and the Red Men Club. She was also a member of United Lutheran Church where she was active in Leah Circle. Adeline was an avid reader, enjoyed bingo, card playing with "the kids," and was well-known for her fabulous baking. Adeline was an Avon representative for over 30 years. She cooked at several local restaurants, the Red Wing Nursing Home, and the St. John's Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three children, Darwin, BethAnn, and Ruby; brothers, Herbert Strusz, Robert Strusz; sister Dorothy Hanson; one daughter-in-law, Terry Hove; and one grandchild, Jodie Scheitel.

She is survived by six sons: Donald, Maiden Rock, Wis.; Dale (Kathy), Turtle Lake, Wis.; Darrell (Kymm), Hager City, Wis.; Danny (Mary), David, and Dean (Teresa) of Red Wing; four daughters, Bonnie (Duane Hince) McKnight, Barbara Marik, Beverly (Arnie) Miller, BeNita (Gregory A. Domke) Hove-Domke, all from Red Wing; 29 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, one-great-great-grandchild; sisters: Iva Hauschildt, Red Wing; Janice Hince, Pepin, Wis.; sisters-in-law: Marcella Hurlburt, Worthington, Minn.; and JoAnn (John) Bach, Bay City, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson - Mahn Chapel, from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, and Friday 1 hour before the service. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at United Lutheran Church, with Reverend Bob Iverson officiating, with interment at Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons Steven Hove, Troy Hove, Brian Hove, Jamie Scheitel, Brodie Scheitel, Michael Marik, Ben Miller, Shawn Hove, Joe Hove, David Dozier, Chris Hove, Scott Hove, Rob Hove, Matthew Bremer, Gregory James Domke.
