Son of William Reynolds and Sarah (Bath) Webb, John Bath Webb was born on May 14, 1835 and christened on August 23, 1835. In 1852, John and his brother Frederick left England for Australia, (presumably to join the gold diggings there) and arrived in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in March of 1853. Not much is known about his life in Australia except he was a butcher and a bachelor living in a hotel at the time of his death. His family was never informed of his death in 1871 and tried to contact him about his father and mother's death in 1873 and 1876, respectively. They put an ad in a local Sydney paper in 1876 asking him to contact his family. His acquaintances must have answered the ad on his behalf and his probate papers were filed in January of 1877 in England.
He died as a result of pleuropneumonia and hepatitis at the young age of 36.
