Ruth A. Hayes
1923 ~ 2013
Ruth Armstrong Hayes was born October 4, 1923 in Charleston, Utah to William W. Armstrong and Margaret Edna Wright. She passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013.

She graduated from South High School and went on to work for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad in the office. She married Harold Eugene Hayes on April 20, 1957; later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. They had one daughter, Anita, and lived in Vista, California. After Harold's death in 1972, they moved back to Salt Lake. Ruth retired from the Housekeeping Department at LDS Hospital. She loved gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting, as well as western movies and books. She had a fun personality with a little mischievous streak. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter Anita and husband Richard Schmuhl; as well as grandchildren Emily, Heidi, Mary and Sam. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as her brothers, Vaughn Armstrong, Joseph Roe Armstrong and sister Helen Garrison.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Highland Care Center and Curo Hospice for their kind and loving care of our Mom and Grandma.

Funeral services will be held Thursday January 17, 2013, 11am at the Eastridge Ward, 1250 East 4800 South where friends may call from 10:00 to 10:45 am. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
