Jacob does not seem to have a grave marker at Old Hope Moravian Graveyard, but his three wives are buried there and it is reported that he was buried there also.

Jacob was the eldest of two known children of Johannes Frey (1762-1802) and Catherine (went by "Chaty") Hartman (1772-1836), who married 28 Apr 1795 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. After Johannes died, Catherine remarried to Jacob Heinrich (Henry) Beroth Jr. (1783-1847) on 14 Feb 1805 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Jacob first married to Sarah Butner (some records show her as Sarah Aaltje Butner) (1801-1824) on 15 Jun 1820 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Jacob and Sarah were the parents of one known child, namely:

1. Martha C. Frey Stipe Evans (1821-1887)

After Sarah died, Jacob remarried to her sister, Anna Elisabeth Butner (1806-1826) on 26 Jul 1825 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Jacob and Anna Butner Frey were the parents of one known child, namely:

2. Tempe Maria Frey (1826-1826)

After Anna Butner Frey died, Jacob remarried to Anna Margaretha (Maria?) Cook (went by Nancy?) (1805-1842) on 22 Jul 1830 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Jacob and Nancy were the parents of three known children, namely:

3. Caroline Lydia Frey Rothrock (1831-1875)
4. John Alexander Frey (1835-1844)
5. Elizabeth ("Eliza") Rebecca Frey Rothrock (1840-1918)

Was there another daughter Mary Ann Elizabeth Frey, born 1833, died young? After Jacob died the orphaned daughters Lydia and Mary (some records list her as Selena) went to the Moravian Sister's home in Salem, Forsyth County, North where they worked in the kitchen.

Links to Jacob's parents, all three of his known wives, three of his five known children and his only known siblings are included below.
