Adolfiina emigrated to New England around 1900, leaving her younger daughters in Finland until she could pay for their passage to America. She was reunited with Hilma Katarina in 1903 and Aini Maria in 1904. Her eldest, Miina, arrived in 1906 with her husband, John Friberg, and four children. For several years Fiina kept a boarding house in Belmont Hill in Worcester. She married Josef Maki in 1903. They evenually joined Hilma and her husband Pekka Wartiainen at Brookside Farm on Route 12 in Westminster, where the couple had settled in 1921. According to a journal kept by her grandson, Fiina wandered out one night, and the family discovered that she had been fatally struck by a bread delivery truck on Route 12.
