Her family moved to Clay County, Nebraska. Fern was a graduate of Harvard (NE.) High School. She married Clarence "Corky" Hamik on April 26, 1952 and later they divorced. On October 4, 1969, she married Jewell Tomjack in Hastings, NE. Fern was a homemaker and worked at Mode O'Day and the Naval Ammunition Depot. Fern was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a former member of the Hastings Women's Bowling Association and Eagles Auxiliary. Fern had volunteered for the Make- A- Wish Foundation.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one sister; one great-grandchild and a daughter-in-law.
