Byron D. Bowen, age 23, died August 7, 1982 at 11:57 a.m. Saturday at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Rogers, Ark.
Byron and his 17 year-old brother, Kevin, were found in a motel swimming pool in Rogers Friday night. Both were recovered and CPR was administered. Byron died approximately 18 hours later.
Bowen was born in Parsons, March 18, 1959, the son of Rhan Bowen and Shirley Maxwell Bowen, and was a lifelong resident of here, graduating from Parsons High School in 1977. He was employed as a laborer for the Katy Railroad and resided at 717 N. 26th. He was formerly employed by the Broderick Co. , The Bike Shop and the United Parcel Service, all of Parsons.
Bowen was active in area religious activities of several Parsons Churches, most recently at the Westside Christian Church. He and his family were at a religious function in Arkansas at the time of the swimming accident.
Survivors include his parents Rhan and Shirley Bowen; two brothers, Gary Bowen of 2928 Appleton and Kevin Bowen of 2615 N. Boulevard; a sister, Mrs. Sue Daugherty of 1805 Gabriel; and grandparents; Joe and Ruby Maxwell of 1210 S.W. 10th.
Funeral services will be announced later by the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral home of Parsons.
