Shadrack Freeland Greear was the son of James Noah (1790-1870) and Mary Elizabeth Bonham Greear (1792-1850). According to information posted on Rootsweb.com, he was born in what is now Franklin County, Virginia. Shadrack spelled his last name Greear although many of his family spelled it Greer/Greere.
