Pete Jose Ignacio, a native and resident of Santa Cruz, passed away in Santa Fe. He was predeceased by his parents Alfredo Lucero and Antonia Fresquez de Lucero; daughter Antonia Lucero; sister and brother-in-law: Elisa and Dennis Garcia and brother-in-law Ben Maestas.

Pete was survived by his wife of 55 years, Siria Theresa Montoya-Lucero; children: Angela Lucero, Elizabeth and Gilbert Martinez, Alfred Lucero, Lynda and Brian Brandle and Pete and Joy Ann Lucero; grandchildren: Gilbert Joseph, Anthony and Faith Martinez, Brianne, Brian and Gary Brandle, Justine, Marisela, Pete, Yessina and Sophia Lucero; great-grandchildren: Jaelyn Lucero and Jacob and Jeremy Brandle; sister Josephine Maestas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pete was a graduate of St. Michaels High School in Santa Fe. He worked for the New Mexico State Highway Department, Lucero General Store, Molybdenum Mines of Questa, and served as Magistrate Judge. He was in the Army National Guard and was the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery Caretaker for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and fire arm enthusiast. In high school, he enjoyed boxing, wrestling and playing the saxophone. He was a longtime member of La Santisima Trinidad and devoted to the Holy Cross Catholic Church and it's priests and nuns.

Public visitation was on January 15, 2013 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with a Rosary to be recited by Los Hermanos de la Santisima Trinidad. Mass of the Resurrection was on January 16, 2013 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Pete Lucero Jr., Gilbert Joseph Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Benny Maestas, Joseph Garcia, Rocky Fresquez, Benny Fresquez Jr., and Ray Montoya.
