1924-2013
James Call Low passed away January 10, 2013 from natural causes. Son of Osborne Low, Jr. and Mary Vashti Call, he was born on August 13, 1924 in Afton, Wyoming. He graduated with honors from Cheyenne High School in 1942. Following his graduation, he honorably served in the army for 3 years which included over a year in the European Theatre in Germany and Czechoslovakia.
After returning home from military service, he graduated from the University of Wyoming majoring in Zoology with minors in both Mathematics and Chemistry after which he entered the Stanford University School of Medicine. While attending Stanford, he married his sweetheart, Betty Colleen Gorbutt, on June 13, 1952 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He graduated from Stanford in 1953 after successfully completing a yearlong internship at Los Angeles County General Hospital in Ventura, California. His specialty was Family Practice.
He successfully established a family practice in Mariposa, California. He later moved his practice to Fullerton, CA and finally to Preston, Idaho finishing his career working for FHP in Ogden, UT.
Throughout his life he enjoyed serving in a variety of callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This included a mission in the Family History Mission in Salt Lake City as the mission "Doc".
He is survived by his wife, four children, Cydney Cox, Jeff, Scott (Leah), and Stacey (Aaron) Workman and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Bruce, Ward and Richard and his son-in-law, Lamoine Cox.
The viewing will be held on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Larkin Mortuary at 260 E South Temple in Salt Lake City from 7-8 pm and interment will be in the Lovell Cemetery in Lovell, WY. A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 16th at Haskell Mortuary in Lovell, WY at 10:30 with a viewing held the ½ hour prior to that.
