Kathryn Isabel Hilligoss, age 91, of Silvis, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on January 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 4021 9 ½ Street, East Moline, IL. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service time. Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Christ United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Kay was born May 11, 1921 in Mercer County, IL, to Willis Pierce and Mary Maud (Morris) Beard. She married Clyde E. Hilligoss, July 19, 1941, in Chillicothe, MO. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2006.

Kay graduated from Aledo High School and attended Brown Business College, Moline, IL. She retired in 1983 from Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ, also working at the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL with 19 years of service.

Kay loved to travel and saw most of the United States as well as England and Ireland with the love of her life, Clyde. She was a cancer survivor, being stricken in 1990, but fighting through it. She was a member of Riverside Methodist Church, Moline, IL, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 121 of which she was a past president, Societede La Femmes #237 of Rock Island and Mercer County, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 9972 in Sierra Vista, AZ, a member of the William Dennison Chapter of D.A.R. in Mercer County, a Past Matron and member of the Aledo Chapter #126 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Former Docent of the Nevada State Museum at Carson City, NV.

Survivors include; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Terry Taylor, Clinton, IA; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sharon Hilligoss, Silvis; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Connie Hilligoss, Aledo; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Creager, Nixa, MO, a sister-in-law June Brewer, Silvis and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and five sisters.
