Sister to:
Edward Leon Blaine
James Glen Blaine
Helen grew up in an extended family that included her grandparents.
These grandparents, Pioneers in the Seattle area, were a significant influence in her early life.
Her grandfather, David Edwards Blaine, was the first Methodist minister, and her grandmother, Catherine (Paine) Blaine, was the first school teacher in the seattle area.
Helen held a variety of jobs during her life. One of her more unique positions was a manager and house mother at the Gun Moon Residence, in San Francisco, California. It was a Methodist sponsored home for young, single Chinese women.
She especially loved taking classes. Her two favorite topics were Spanish language studies and craft classes. Helen was very active in the church. Because of her early training, she always believed in a rather strict observance of Sunday as a day for religious concerns and activities.
Married: Raymond Hamilton Hutton, November 21, 1918, divorced, then remarried him, divorced him again, then married Gilbert Allen Higbe, Jan. 31, 1936.
She was survived by her son's, Blaine Elbert Hutton, and Robert Eugene Hutton, and step-daughter Alleen (Higbe) Brush.
She was preceded in death by husband Gilbert Allen Higbe, in 1952, and Ruth Eleanor ( Hutton) Swanson, in 1983.
